NCC to hold Stakeholders Consultative Forum on Rural Connectivity using Television whitespaces (TVWS).

The Nigeria Communication Commission holds a one day stakeholders Consultative Forum on rural Connectivity using Television whitespaces (TVWS).

NCC is planning on developing a regulatory framework on the use of TVWS in Nigeria.

Some issues the meeting would cover are

  1. how to ensure harmonious operation with licensed spectrum users
  2. categorising TVWS operators into tiers to accommodate cognitive radio operators and non-cognitive radio operators
  3. the possibility of designating the TVWS spectrum as licence exempt to enable service providers to operate competitively that is to enable them to provide low-cost services to most of the unconnected subscribers in the rural areas.

Date: Tuesday, March 26, 2019
Venue: Barcelona Hotels, 23, Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja
Time: 9.00 A.M
